Making good ethical decisions involves considering the moral principles and values that guide your actions, as well as taking into account the potential consequences of your choices on others and society as a whole.

The decisions you make should always be consistent with our company’s purpose - protecting people and assets in the mobile workplace.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you make ethical decisions:

A.Identify the Decision: Clearly define the decision you need to make. Understand the context and the various factors at play.

B.Gather Information: Collect all relevant information about the situation, including facts, options, and potential outcomes. Ensure you have a complete understanding of the issue.

C.Identify Your Values and Principles: Reflect on your personal values and ethical principles. Consider what matters most to you in this situation. Common ethical principles include honesty, integrity, fairness, justice, empathy, and respect for others.

D.Consider the Consequences: Think about the potential outcomes of each option. How will your decision affect you, others involved, and the wider community? Consider both short-term and long-term consequences.

E.Seek Different Perspectives: Talk to people who may have different viewpoints or experiences related to the decision. This can help you gain a broader understanding of the issue and consider alternative perspectives.

F.Apply Ethical Theories: Familiarise yourself with ethical theories such as utilitarianism (maximising overall happiness), deontology (duty-based ethics), virtue ethics (focusing on character), and social contract theory. Evaluate your options in light of these theories to see which one aligns with your values and the situation.

G.Consider Legal and Organisational Rules: Determine if there are any laws, regulations, or organisational policies that are relevant to your decision. Ensure that your choice complies with these rules.

H.Consult Ethical Guidelines: Some professions and organisations have specific ethical codes or guidelines. If applicable, consult these codes to inform your decision.

I.Ethical Dilemma Resolution: If you are facing an ethical dilemma where two or more ethical principles conflict, consider potential compromises or alternative solutions. Sometimes, you may need to prioritise one principle over another, depending on the situation.

J.Make Your Decision: After careful consideration of all the factors and ethical principles, make your decision. Ensure that it aligns with your values and principles.

K.Take Responsibility: Accept responsibility for your decision and its consequences. Be prepared to justify and defend your choice if necessary.

L.Reflect and Learn: After the decision is implemented, take time to reflect on the outcomes and the process. Consider what you learned from the experience and how you can improve your ethical decision-making in the future.

M.Seek Feedback: If appropriate, seek feedback from others about your decision-making process. This can help you refine your ethical decision-making skills.

Remember that making ethical decisions can be complex and challenging, and there may not always be a clear-cut "right" answer. However, by following a structured process and considering multiple perspectives, you can increase the likelihood of making good ethical decisions that align with your values and have positive outcomes for yourself and others.
